The challenge
The beauty aisle at any price point is brutally competitive. Solera was entering the premium hair care segment with no existing brand recognition, which meant the pack had to do all the heavy lifting — communicate quality, ingredient trust, and brand personality in under three seconds of shelf attention. The same design also had to photograph cleanly for DTC listings.
The approach
I led with material finish choices before touching layout — recommending a soft-touch matte substrate with a spot UV logo treatment to create a tactile premium signal before the customer reads a word. The colour story was built around warm ivory and antique gold — not the typical clinical white that dominates the category. Typography was set in a refined serif with generous spacing to slow the eye down and signal confidence.
