The challenge
The cafe category is saturated with two extremes: generic coffeehouse beige or try-hard minimalism. Cafe Day wanted something in between — approachable enough for a first visit, refined enough to build loyalty. The identity needed to work on everything from a paper cup to an Instagram story without losing its personality.
The approach
I anchored the identity in a rounded, hand-influenced mark with a colour palette built around warm terracotta and cream — colours that read as appetising without screaming 'coffee shop'. Typography was set in a slightly quirky serif to add character. The full rollout covered menu cards, signage, packaging, and a set of promo templates the owner could update themselves.
